WerkLoont ('Work Pays Off') is the most important re-integration measure of the city of Rotterdam. The measure has two objectives: preventing benefit dependency and stimulation off-flow from a benefit when prevention has had no effect. An earlier experiment has revealed that WerkLoont reduces benefit dependency and increases the probability of obtaining paid work in the short run. But is WerkLoont still effective in the long run? And is it possible to adjust the measure in such a way that its effect can be enlarged? With support of a subsidy from ZonMW, employees from SEOR and the Faculty of Social Sciences of Erasmus University Rotterdam are conducting research in which these two questions are addressed.
